Anna Królikiewicz

Born February 7, 1970.

Graduated from the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk in 1993, received the academic title of professor from the President of the Republic of Poland – 2018, received her doctorate in 2000, after receiving her postdoctoral degree in 2010, she leads the Fourth Studio of Figuration/Object Drawing at her alma mater.

From 2001-2003 she taught in several studios at the faculties of Art and Graphic Design at Bilkent University in Ankara, from 2013- 2018 she taught the subject Shape of Taste at School of Form in Poznan. Devoted to monumental drawing and installation, she occasionally writes (a regular column in the magazine “USTA” dedicated to the relationship between fine arts and food 2013-2021). The author of many solo exhibitions, she has participated in about a hundred group exhibitions at home and abroad, her works have been shown in New York, Istanbul, Ankara, Kiel, Brussels, at international festivals of contemporary art, in an abandoned butcher store in Sopot, the refectory of the Carthusian Order, an olive forest, an empty apartment in Krakow’s Salwator, in Warsaw’s Zachęta. At the turn of 2018 / 19, she worked on the set design for a drama based on the novel by Alexandre Dumas: “Die Bartholomäusnacht” at Theater Freiburg in Germany. Co-author, scientific editor and co-editor of the scientific monograph “Interlanguage” organizing the theme of the use of food as a medium in contemporary art, foodart, relational art, in the field of painting, anthropology, art history. The latest realizations of 2022 were created at the invitation of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews POLIN in Warsaw and metaphorize the issues of Jewish cuisine in the exhibition “From the Kitchen. Jewish Culinary Culture”. She curated the contemporary art exhibition “Rozkurz” in the vacant buildings of the historic Nikiszowiec estate in Katowice. She is currently working on a solo exhibition “Blind Maps” at the Arsenal Gallery in Bialystok (opening in December 2022).

Winner of rector’s awards for artistic and pedagogical achievements, twice a scholarship holder of the City of Sopot and the Marshal of the Voivodeship. Winner of the award of the President of the City of Gdansk for 25 years of creative work, and the Muse of Sopot in the field of Culture and Art 2019, nominated for the title of Man of the Year in Culture 2019 and 2020 (Pomorskie Sztormy 2019 and 2020 ), final nomination for the award Splendor Gedanensis 2020. In 2019 she was awarded the badge of Merit for Polish Culture.
